- Daniel 7:13–In my vision at night I looked, and there before me was one like a son of man, coming with the clouds of heaven. He approached the Ancient of Days and was led into his presence.
- Nahum 1:3–The LORD is slow to anger and great in power; the LORD will not leave the guilty unpunished. His way is in the whirlwind and the storm, and clouds are the dust of his feet.
- Matthew 24:30–At that time the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky, and all the nations of the earth will mourn. They will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of the sky, with power and great glory.
- Matthew 25:31–When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his throne in heavenly glory.
- Acts 1:11–"Men of Galilee," they said, "why do you stand here looking into the sky? This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven."
- 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17–For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever.
- 2 Thessalonians 1:7–This will happen when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven in blazing fire with his powerful angels.
- Revelation 1:7–Look, he is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him, even those who pierced him; and all the peoples of the earth will mourn because of him.
- Revelation 6:12-17–The sky receded like a scroll, rolling up, and every mountain and island was removed from its place.
- Revelation 14:14–I looked, and there before me was a white cloud, and seated on the cloud was one "like a son of man" with a crown of gold on his head and a sharp sickle in his hand.
These are the notes from an on-going study on End Times. We meet weekly to study relevant texts to learn what the Bible has to say about these events. We believe that God desires his people and his church to know what will happen, and to be prepared so that, through his grace, they will be able to stand firm to the end. Amen! Come, Lord Jesus!
The Coming of the Lord (clouds, sky, etc.)
The Day of the Lord
- sun darkened (Zec 14, Isa 13, Joel 2)
- moon turns to blood (Zec 14, Isa 13)
- comes like a thief (2 Pet 3:10)
- the Lord’s feet will touch the Mount of Olives
- the Mount of Olives will split in two from east to west
- no light – no cold or frost
- without daytime or nighttime
- when evening comes, there will be light
- living water will flow out of Jerusalem
- stars will not show their light (Isa 13, Joel 2)
- a cruel day of wrath and fierce anger (Isa 13)
- the Lord is mustering an army for war (Isa 13)
Isaiah 30:27-33
27 See, the Name of the LORD comes from afar, with burning anger and dense clouds of smoke; his lips are full of wrath, and his tongue is a consuming fire.
28 His breath is like a rushing torrent, rising up to the neck. He shakes the nations in the sieve of destruction; he places in the jaws of the peoples a bit that leads them astray.
29 And you will sing as on the night you celebrate a holy festival; your hearts will rejoice as when people go up with flutes to the mountain of the LORD, to the Rock of Israel.
30 The LORD will cause men to hear his majestic voice and will make them see his arm coming down with raging anger and consuming fire, with cloudburst, thunderstorm and hail.
31 The voice of the LORD will shatter Assyria; with his scepter he will strike them down.
32 Every stroke the LORD lays on them with his punishing rod will be to the music of tambourines and harps, as he fights them in battle with the blows of his arm.
33 Topheth has long been prepared; it has been made ready for the king. Its fire pit has been made deep and wide, with an abundance of fire and wood; the breath of the LORD, like a stream of burning sulfur, sets it ablaze.
Isaiah 33:1-13
1 Woe to you, O destroyer, you who have not been destroyed! Woe to you, O traitor, you who have not been betrayed! When you stop destroying, you will be destroyed; when you stop betraying, you will be betrayed.
2 O LORD, be gracious to us; we long for you. Be our strength every morning, our salvation in time of distress.
3 At the thunder of your voice, the peoples flee; when you rise up, the nations scatter.
4 Your plunder, O nations, is harvested as by young locusts; like a swarm of locusts men pounce on it.
5 The LORD is exalted, for he dwells on high; he will fill Zion with justice and righteousness.
6 He will be the sure foundation for your times, a rich store of salvation and wisdom and knowledge; the fear of the LORD is the key to this treasure.
7 Look, their brave men cry aloud in the streets; the envoys of peace weep bitterly.
8 The highways are deserted, no travelers are on the roads. The treaty is broken, its witnesses are despised, no one is respected.
9 The land mourns and wastes away, Lebanon is ashamed and withers; Sharon is like the Arabah, and Bashan and Carmel drop their leaves.
10 "Now will I arise," says the LORD. "Now will I be exalted; now will I be lifted up.
11 You conceive chaff, you give birth to straw; your breath is a fire that consumes you.
12 The peoples will be burned as if to lime; like cut thornbushes they will be set ablaze."
13 You who are far away, hear what I have done; you who are near, acknowledge my power!
Kings of Israel
This is not the ideal layout for a time line, but it works for now...

| The designation of Kings as e or g signifies whether they were "evil" or "good" in the eyes of the Lord. |
And the fun begins...
This is going to be interesting, since we are starting the blogging process two years into our study. But hopefully this will help us track our progress and also be able to search for things we've already studied.
It is a joy to study the Bible and to eagerly await the Lord's return. If nothing else, this study has encouraged our hearts as we see the way God is sovereignly unfolding his plan, and accomplishing all his purposes.

2 Peter 3:10-12 – But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar; the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything in it will be laid bare. Since everything will be destroyed in this way, what kind of people ought you to be? You ought to live holy and godly lives as you look forward to the day of God and speed its coming.
1 Thessalonians 4:16-18 – For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever. Therefore encourage each other with these words.
